On Mermaids and Parties...

The girls are celebrating their birthdays this week - and like all good mothers, while I am celebrating their furthered independence, abilities, skills and one more year in the books - if I admit it, birthdays make me a tiny bit sad.  Sad that year 5 and year 0 are in fact over... forever.  (dramatic I know...)
I try really hard to let this reminder push me to be a better mom... to engage more, to play more... to invent more... to love more...  But sometimes, like yesterday, it's okay to just take a day and celebrate what was.  So yesterday we did just that and we celebrated year 5 and year 0 mermaid style - and  we gawked at just how fast this year went. I have a feeling it doesn't slow down...

Those of you who have facebook will have seen these, but for those who don't - ahhememm Dad - these are for you...

Etta LOVEDDDD her mermaid from mom and dad... she kept hugging her - it was beyond cute.

Ailey reading her treasure map, which led her to her presents from mom and dad ...
stop one led to some fishing over the fence for presents

Ailey could not figure out how the presents got tied on to the line... such suspension of disbelief eh? :)
(we're so tricky!)

we barely got the cupcake on the tray before little miss decided to dig in!
(much, much different than her ever-careful big sister...)

Stop two on the treasure hunt... diving for treasure in the mermaid lagoon ---
chuckie cheese coins and fake dress-up jewels

Stop three on the treasure hunt....

Getting the 'secret code' from Grandpa
